The "Association of Carriers of Russia" was established in 2015 after the "Platon" road fees system was introduced in Russia. Truck drivers were charged a "Platon" fee, which was supposed to compensate for road damage caused by heavy trucks (part of the collected funds was to go to the Road Fund of Russia). After a four-month strike organized by the Association of Carriers of Russia, the government reduced the fines for non-payment of these fees and even froze the tariffs. Now the organization protects the rights of carriers and helps them to build and maintain relationships with federal and regional authorities.
