The Center for Independent Sociological Research (CISR) created a flexible, democratic research structure capable of responding to the needs of Russian society and facilitating the integration of Russian sociologists into the global sociological community. The CISR was a resource center for social scientists and non-governmental Russian organizations.

The “Center for Independent Sociological Research” organized in Russia conferences “Social Sciences, Racist Discourse, and Discriminatory Practices” (2001), “Racist Discourse in Russian Education” (2004), “Biographical Method in the Study of Post-Socialist Societies: 10 Years Later” (2006), “Russian field: a view from abroad” (2009).
