The non-profit organization received grants from the American Foundation for Democracy (NED), which had previously been recognized as an 'undesirable organization' in Russia, and also administered two websites: the news aggregator Besttoday.ru and the Pomnibeslan.ru page, which was created as part of the 'Truth about Beslan' online project. The Ministry of Justice pointed out that these sites published materials 'containing criticism of the authorities'.
