The American organization "Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting" positions itself as an independent international medical community that informs about forced organ harvesting, especially from adherents of the spiritual practice of Falun Gong.

Falun Gong is a religious movement that emerged in China in the early 1990s. It is based on Chinese qigong gymnastics combined with elements of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, as well as traditional folk beliefs. In the late 1990s, the movement was banned in the PRC. The Chinese authorities launched widespread persecution against Falun Gong practitioners.

The organization was recognized as "undesirable" on the territory of Russia.
