The 'League of Women Voters' monitored elections and held seminars to train public observers. In 2011-2012, during the elections of deputies of the State Duma, the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, and the presidential elections, the organization trained about two thousand observers and members of election committees. The organization also provided support to women candidates. Before closing on the day of the elections, the 'League of Women Voters' organized a hotline for voters.

The 'League of Women Voters' was acclaimed to be a 'foreign agent' after an inspection, carried out by the Ministry of Justice, in which they found this organization to be involved in political activity. Political activity was considered to be the cooperation of 'The league of female voters' with the 'Solidarity' movement and the human rights council in St. Petersburg, as well as the organization of a cycle of classes 'School of future deputy candidates', which allegedly were directed to 'forming an opinion of the insolvency of the implemented policy of state bodies in the public'.
