The EGIDA Petersburg organization provided assistance to employees and socially vulnerable groups of people, contributed to the protection of social and labor rights and interests, and promoted a certain quality of life in the North-Western region. There were several major campaigns in history of EGIDA. First was the campaign for changing the maternity and childcare allowance procedure from the Social Insurance Fund (the goal was to enforce direct payments from the fund, rather than through employer); Second was the 2012 spring campaign for open elections of the Commissioner for Human Rights in St. Petersburg (as a result, the second place in the elections was taken by the president of EGIDA Petersburg -- Rima Sharifullina).
