The Czech non-profit organization “People in Need” was founded in 1992. The founder of the organization is the Czech journalist, writer, and politician Jaromir Stetina.

The organization provides assistance to people in crisis situations (for example, victims of armed conflicts or natural disasters), promotes the spread and development of democracy and human rights in the world, supports dissidents, independent journalists, and human rights defenders.
