In St Petersburg, journalist Elina Kozich from RusNews was detained while she was photographing people laying flowers at the monument to the prisoners of the GULAG. RusNews reports.

The detained journalist is being taken to Police Station No. 43.

The police officers apologised to her.

21:40 Security forces have detained Egor Shramko, who brought a photo of Alexei Navalny to the monument to the victims of repression. Shramko himself informed OVD-Info about the detention.

The detainee is also being taken to Police Station No. 43.

5 June The Petrograd District Court of St Petersburg has sentenced Egor Shramko to one day of detention, his lawyer Igor Skachko told OVD-Info.

Shramko is expected to be released in a few hours.

The court found him guilty of displaying extremist symbols. According to the record, the security forces considered the photograph of Navalny to be extremist symbolism.

The headline was changed following information about a further detention.
