In Bashkortostan, a region in central Russia, a local woman is to stand trial on charges of spreading 'fake news' about the military due to posts she made online.

On 5 June, the Oktyabrsky District Court in Ufa received a criminal case against a local resident for allegedly spreading “fake news” about the Russian army, motivated by political hatred (paragraph “d,” part 2, article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). She reported this herself to OVD-Info.

The date of the first hearing has not yet been set. News about the prosecution of the Ufa resident emerged in March.

She is accused of two episodes. According to investigators, she spread “fake news” on her Telegram channel and Instagram account. The specific posts in question are not known.
