In Nakhodka, a city in the Primorsky region of Russia’s Far East, the tyres of local independent journalist Anna Sharipova’s car were slashed. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Govorit NeMoskva.”

The journalist herself posted photos of the punctured tyres on her personal Telegram channel. The car was parked outside her home, and the incident happened on the night of 9 June. That same day, local police announced that they were conducting an investigation.

“Everyone knows both the make and number of my car; I’ve been driving it for almost two years. I don’t have any personal conflicts, my relationship with my neighbours is fine, and no one in our courtyard fights over parking spaces. I think this is linked to my professional activity. Many people don’t like my publications, and I’ve had complaints made against me more than once because of it,” Sharipova told Govorit NeMoskva.

Anna Sharipova runs a personal Telegram channel where she covers the problems faced in Primorsky region and Nakhodka. She has previously faced attempts to bring administrative charges against her for supporting an anti-war picketer, and was also detained on the day of Alexei Navalny’s funeral for laying flowers.

In March, a participant in the war in Ukraine filed a lawsuit against Sharipova over a video she published of their meeting. He claimed that the video “creates a negative attitude towards participants in the special military operation” and demanded 25,000 rubles (approx. US$275).

In April, Sharipova published information that Nakhodka officials had moved a World War II veteran out of a crumbling home into a renovated flat, and filmed giving him a “Honoured Citizen of Primorsky Krai” badge. After this, a lawsuit was filed against Sharipova in the veteran’s name, demanding a retraction of her publication and payment of 30,000 rubles (approx. US$330).
