The Pskov politician Lev Shlosberg has been raided. This was reported by the pro-Kremlin RT channel.

According to the outlet, the investigative actions are being carried out as part of a criminal case concerning repeat “discreditation” of the Russian army (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code).

In 2024, Shlosberg was fined twice under a similar administrative article, after which, according to the law, criminal charges may be brought. Subsequently, the politician also had a criminal case opened against him for repeated failure to fulfil “foreign agent” requirements. (more)

11:55 The criminal case against Lev Shlosberg for “discrediting” the army was initiated over a debate with historian Yuri Pivovarov on the YouTube channel “Zhivoy Gvozd,” reports the Pskov branch of Yabloko.

In the debate, Pivovarov argued against signing a peace deal unfavourable to Ukraine, while Shlosberg insisted on an immediate end to the fighting.

According to investigators, two days after the debate, on 12 January, Shlosberg “committed a public act aimed at discrediting the use of the Russian Armed Forces for the purpose of protecting the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens, and maintaining international peace and security” by posting a video recording of the debate on Odnoklassniki. The politician maintains that he did not publish this video nor does he administer that page.

Yabloko states that the search took place not only at Lev Shlosberg’s residence, but also at the flat of his 96-year-old father, Mark Shlosberg, and at the office of the Pskov branch of the party. Security forces confiscated equipment at these addresses.

The politician was taken to the investigative division of the regional interior ministry. He is to be interrogated.

15:22 The Pskov branch of Yabloko reports that Lev Shlosberg has been formally charged under the criminal case. He has been placed in a temporary detention facility until the pre-trial restraint hearing.

The hearing on pre-trial restraint will take place tomorrow. It is not yet known what measure investigators will be seeking.
