Ilya Shakursky, a defendant in the Penza “Network” case, has been transferred to Penal Colony No. 7 in Mordovia. His mother informed OVD-Info about this.
He was sent there from the hospital, where he ended up in May. The Mordovia Penal Colony No. 17, where Shakursky had previously been serving his sentence, has been closed.
In February 2020, those found guilty in the Penza “Network” case were sentenced to terms between 10 and 18 years in a strict regime penal colony. Shakursky received 16 years under the charge of organising the activities of a terrorist community (part 1 of article 205.4 of the Criminal Code).
The criminal case against the young people was opened in October 2017. According to the FSB, 11 people from Penza (a large city in the Volga region) and St Petersburg organised the “Network” terrorist community and were allegedly planning to overthrow the government.
