Opposition deputy of the Krasnoyarsk Legislative Assembly, Aleksandr Gliskov, has been transferred to the IK-17 high-security penal colony in Krasnoyarsk. This was reported by Prospekt Mira.
In October, Gliskov was sentenced to ten years in a high-security penal colony over charges of receiving a particularly large bribe (part 6, article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code). The politician was also fined 10 million roubles (approximately US$110,000) and banned from holding leadership positions in government service for eight years. The prosecutor had requested 14 years of strict regime and the same fine for Gliskov.
In September 2023, Gliskov ran for the post of regional governor. During the election, he reported vote-buying by United Russia. Later, his office was searched and he was remanded in a pre-trial detention centre as part of the case on receiving a particularly large bribe (part 6, article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code) from the head of a state enterprise in Krasnoyarsk between December 2016 and May 2017. The Telegram channel Kras Mash wrote that the sum involved was ten million roubles.
In March, the detained Gliskov was fined five thousand roubles (about US$55) under the article on violation of election campaigning rules (article 5.10 of the Russian Administrative Code) over a video published on the politician’s Telegram channel during the September elections for the governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai.
“Residents of Krasnoyarsk, elections are a great excuse to get back at them for the ‘black sky,’ the pension reform, petrol prices, and broken roads”—the video said.
After the deputy’s arrest, LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky said on his Telegram channel that the party considers Gliskov’s prosecution to be political. Gliskov himself called the criminal case an “act of political reprisal” due to the popularity of his candidacy in the regional governor election. Gliskov’s assistant, Roman Krastelev, also stated that his prosecution is politically motivated.
