In St Petersburg, security forces have detained a 24-year-old local resident, Alexandra, over a video showing her burning a Russian passport. This was reported by the publication Bumaga.
It is not yet known exactly where the detainee is being held or what charges they face.
Alexandra recorded a video in which she burns her passport, explaining that she did so because she was exhausted from work.
“Come on, come and get me,” the young woman said in the video.
On 17 June investigators opened a criminal case against the detainee for hooliganism committed by a group of people (Part 2, Article 213 of the Russian Criminal Code). This was reported by Irina Volk, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to her, security forces also detained Alexandra’s acquaintance, who “witnessed the burning of the passport,” and are now conducting a preliminary investigation.
