The Orenburg District Court in the Orenburg region has received the case of a 48-year-old resident of the village of Podgorodnyaya Pokrovka, accused of financing an “extremist organisation” (Part 1, Article 282.3 of the Russian Criminal Code). The court press service reported this on 7 May, as noted by the media outlet Mediazona.

The name of the defendant is unknown. In the case file their full name is also hidden. The case was supposed to be heard on 11 June, but due to the defendant’s absence the hearing was postponed to the 30th.

According to the investigation, the man watched videos on the “Alexey Navalny” YouTube channel and transferred money to the FBK’s American account via a link under the video.

The investigators also claim that the Orenburg local “was fully aware that the nonprofit organisation established by Navalny, ‘Anti-Corruption Foundation,’ had been classified as extremist and liquidated.”

The court press service’s statement goes on to note that “despite being of mature age and having two underage children,” the man “succumbed to overtly hostile propaganda.” The court believes he “should be raising [his children] in the spirit of love for the Motherland” and “setting a personal example of responsible behaviour and civic awareness.”
