A criminal case has been initiated against Russian citizen Alexander Anderson for spreading “fakes” about the Russian army motivated by hatred (subparagraph “d” of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), reports TASS, citing the FSB Directorate for Rostov region, a city in southern Russia.
Anderson currently lives in the United States. The reason for the criminal prosecution was posts about events in the Ukrainian cities of Bucha and Izium that he published on Instagram from 14 September to 9 December 2022.
“[Anderson] posted publications containing deliberately false, negative information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and government bodies as a whole on the territory of Ukraine during the special military operation,” law enforcement officials claim.
