In the Ivanovo region, police have drawn up three reports against Vladimir Lyubimov, First Secretary of the Communist Party city committee in Kineshma, over several events. This was reported by the regional party branch’s Telegram channel.
In all three cases, the politician is accused of organising an unauthorised public event (part 2, article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences). The events that police considered violations took place in the spring, but the reports were only drawn up on 20 June.
The first two reports against Lyubimov were due to his laying of flowers at two Lenin monuments in Kineshma on 22 April, the revolutionary’s birthday. Several dozen people took part in the flower-laying, some of whom held Communist flags.
The third report against the deputy was drawn up in connection with his meeting with local residents near a children’s playground, which took place on 31 May.
“This is not justice—this is persecution. This is an outright political crackdown. The authorities cannot forgive Vladimir Nikolayevich for his active stance on defending citizens’ rights. In the past quarter alone, he has raised several questions that are awkward for the mayor’s office,” the party press service quotes the comment of Alexander Boykov, First Secretary of the Ivanovo regional Communist Party committee.
