Enver Mamutov, a defendant in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case, has been transferred from Penal Colony No. 11 in Stavropol Krai to Penal Colony No. 3 in Chuvashia, a region on the Volga River. This was reported by “Crimean Solidarity.”
At the beginning of May, Mamutov spent five days in a punishment cell (SHIZO). After serving this disciplinary action, the man stated that he would be sent back to the isolation cell on 7 May. His lawyer tried to visit him on 6 May, but the colony denied the meeting on the grounds of a staff meeting. On the same day, the Crimean Tatar contacted his family and said he was being transferred to another colony.
Mamutov informed his family that he had arrived at Penal Colony No. 3 in Chuvashia and had completed a quarantine period there on 13 June.
In December 2018, Mamutov was sentenced to 16 years and nine months in a high-security regime colony on charges of organising the activities of a terrorist organisation (Article 205.5 Part 1 of the Criminal Code) and preparation for the violent seizure of power by an organised group in prior agreement (Article 278 of the Criminal Code, with the application of Article 35 Part 2 and Article 30 Part 1). He has been in custody since 12 May 2016.
Alongside him in the same case were Rustem Abiltarov, Zevri Abseitov and Remzi Memetov. They were sentenced to nine years in a penal colony on charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist organisation (Article 205.5 Part 2 of the Criminal Code) and preparation for the violent seizure of power.
