Pavel Korshunov, a resident of Togliatti, who was sentenced to 13 years in a penal colony over the arson of the city administration building, has been transferred to a prison in Dimitrovgrad (Ulyanovsk region, on the Volga River). This was reported by the “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” project.

The man was sent to a remand centre in September 2022. He was accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at the city administration building during the night of 22 September of the same year. As a result of the arson, the front door and the cladding of the building’s steps caught fire; no one was injured.

Korshunov himself said he carried out the act as a protest against the mobilisation announced the day before.

In July 2024, the court sentenced him to a real term on charges of vandalism (Part 2, Article 214 of the Criminal Code) and terrorism (Paragraph “v,” Part 2, Article 205 of the Criminal Code). Korshunov’s case was considered in court for over a year.

Before his arrest, Korshunov worked as a manager for a travel agency.
