The Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case for the rehabilitation of Nazism (Part 3, Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code) over a video in which a teenager in Tolyatti sings the Ukrainian national anthem and “Batko Nash—Bandera, Ukrayina—maty.” This was reported by the Investigative Committee branch for Samara Region.
The case was opened at the request of the head of the local branch, Pavel Oleynik.
“During social media monitoring, video recordings were found showing unlawful actions by teenagers in Tolyatti performing musical works containing elements of Nazi rehabilitation,” the Investigative Committee’s statement said.
During the night of 30 June, a video appeared on local news channels, recorded by a girl on Telegram. Surrounded by friends, she invites them to wave to the camera. While they do so, one of the young men sings first the song “Batko Nash—Bandera, Ukrayina—maty,” and then the Ukrainian national anthem.
The Telegram channel “Tolyatti,” which has more than 130,000 subscribers, shared the video with the comment: The country is at war, and in Victory Park these kids are singing a banned Ukrainian song in praise of Bandera, along with the Ukrainian anthem.
The channel later updated the post, saying that “the kids have already been found.”
