Alla Konstantinova, a journalist at Mediazona, has been placed on the federal wanted list. This was reported by Mediazona, citing the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
At the end of April, a criminal case was opened against Konstantinova for violating the rules of “foreign agent” activity (part 2, article 330.1 of the Criminal Code). However, this only became publicly known in early June.
The journalist said that she was not notified about the case and only received confirmation a month later, after she called the investigator herself.
Previously, Konstantinova was fined three times under protocols for violating “foreign agent” obligations (article 19.34 of the Administrative Code). Most recently, she was fined 30,000 roubles (approximately US$320) on 9 June for failing to mark today’s publications with her “foreign agent” status. The protocol was issued over a post with an outtake from a video about the youngest Russian soldiers killed in the war in Ukraine. The other two administrative cases were initiated for failing to submit reports to the Ministry of Justice.
The Ministry of Justice added Konstantinova to the “foreign agent” register in April 2022. In March 2025, the European Court of Human Rights found that the agency’s actions violated the rights to freedom of expression and to private life, awarding compensation to Konstantinova and more than 30 other people on the register.
Konstantinova does not live in Russia.
