The Ministry of Justice has refused to register the party “The Other Russia of E. V. Limonov.” This became known on 7 July from the group’s Telegram channel.
The leadership of “The Other Russia” believes that the decision was made by the Ministry of Justice on purely technical grounds. According to the statement, the authorities were not satisfied with the size and colour of the font used in the registration application, as required by the standard template. In addition, it was claimed that there was no space between the series and the number of the applicants' passports.
“The party’s political council understands that the decision to refuse our registration is political. ‘The Other Russia of E. V. Limonov’ is a legal political force: we carry out our activities based on the Constitution and the laws of the Russian Federation. And we continue the political struggle for power in Russia,” the statement from “The Other Russia” said.
- “The Other Russia” is an unregistered party founded in summer 2010 by members of the National Bolshevik Party (NBP), which was banned in Russia in 2007. Party members are known as “Natsbols” or “Limonovites” (after the party’s founder, Eduard Limonov). At the end of September 2020, the party announced its self-dissolution and re-formation under the name “The Other Russia of E. V. Limonov.”
