The Novomoskovsky District Court in Tula Oblast will hear the case of local resident G., who is charged with calling for “extremist” activities on the internet (Part 2, Article 280 of the Russian Criminal Code). This was reported by the combined press service of the region’s courts.
The indictment states that from 24 February 2022 to 26 September 2023, the defendant “formed a criminal intent” aimed at inciting “extremist” activity. The press service clarified that the man “held negative views about the conduct of the ‘special military operation.’”
On 26 September 2024, he posted a message on Telegram calling “for a crime motivated by ideological hatred or enmity towards Russians.”
The Tula resident was released on a travel ban. The first hearing in the case will take place on 15 July.
