The Ministry of Internal Affairs has placed writer Dmitry Bykov on the wanted list. This was noticed in the ministry’s wanted persons database by Mediazona.

At the end of April, the Investigative Committee reported that a criminal case had been opened against Bykov. He is charged under articles related to spreading “fake news” about the Russian army motivated by hatred (sub-paragraph “d,” part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) and failing to fulfil the obligations of a “foreign agent” (part 2 of article 330.1 of the Criminal Code).

According to the “fake news” article, Bykov is being prosecuted over a video containing information about the actions of the Russian army against civilians in Ukraine, which the Investigative Committee claims is “knowingly false.” Under the “foreign agent” violation article, he is accused of failing to submit a report.

At that time, the authorities noted that the issue of placing Bykov on the wanted list was being considered.
