In Novouralsk, a city in the Urals, Sergey Ogloblin was sentenced to 300 hours of compulsory community service for alleged involvement with the Ukrainian church “Vozrozhdenie” (“Revival”). OVD-Info was informed about this by the Novouralsk City Court.
Ogloblin was found guilty under the article on financing an “undesirable” organisation (Part 2, Article 284.1 of the Russian Criminal Code).
- The “Vozrozhdenie” Spiritual Centre is a religious organisation founded in 1997 in Ukraine by televangelist Volodymyr Muntyan. It also has branches in some other CIS countries. In 2013, the All-Ukrainian Union of Churches issued a statement urging people to be wary of Muntyan, describing the centre’s activities as “close to occult practices.”
In November 2022, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office declared the “Vozrozhdenie” Spiritual Centre and its fund “undesirable organisations.” According to the agency, their activities pose a threat to Russia’s constitutional order and security.
