The Orenburg District Court has fined a 48-year-old resident of Podgorodnya Pokrovka village 200,000 roubles (approximately US$2,200) in a case concerning the financing of extremist activities (part 1 of article 282.3 of the Criminal Code). The court’s press service reported this.
The press service clarified that the man watched videos on politician Alexei Navalny’s channel and sent donations to the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) account specified under the videos.
“Despite his mature age and the fact he has two underage children whom he should raise with love for their homeland, and to whom he ought to provide a personal example of respectable behaviour and civic responsibility, the man succumbed to blatant enemy propaganda,” the court press service said.
The man fully admitted guilt and said that he regularly takes part in charitable activities, and that he considered donations to the FBK “a good deed.”
The case reached the court back in May. In practice, only two hearings were required to consider it. According to the case record on the court’s website, the verdict was delivered on 22 July.
