Security forces in the occupied Crimea have detained a 23-year-old resident of Sevastopol, who allegedly, on orders from Ukrainian intelligence, was filming an anti-Russian film. This was reported by RIA Novosti Crimea.

The name of the young person has not been released. A criminal case has been opened against them on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation.

According to investigators, the detainee, who allegedly supports Ukraine, decided to join an underground organisation that has been designated as terrorist. Security forces claim that, from the end of 2024 to March 2025, the man engaged in intelligence work and sabotage and terrorist activities, and also made a film negatively portraying the Russian authorities and military.

“In particular, on the instructions of a handler, he prepared materials and subsequently filmed an anti-Russian agitational and propagandist film in Sevastopol. According to an expert’s assessment, the script contains signs of political hatred, discredits the Russian Federation’s foreign policy regarding the reunification of Crimea with Russia, and forms a negative image of the Russian Armed Forces,” RIA Novosti Crimea quotes a source in the FSB as saying.

The news agency also published video footage of the alleged suspect with their face blurred. In the video, the young person says they got in contact via Telegram with a representative of the Ukrainian underground movement named Ametkhan.

“He told me that they are involved in subversive activity and propaganda work,” the man says on camera. “That is, photo and video recording of military equipment and all sorts of other things <…>. Some time later, he contacted me again and offered me work. I told him that I dreamed of making a pro-Ukrainian film <…>. I was supposed to send the film to him, but we didn’t really discuss it in detail. My initial plan was to release the film on platforms like YouTube or, if I was lucky, get it shown in cinemas in Ukraine. I planned to finish filming in the spring of 2025, after which I wanted to leave Crimea and travel to Ukraine via Georgia to settle there permanently.”
