The movement “Peace. Progress. Human Rights” has announced that it is ceasing operations after being designated an “undesirable organisation.” This was reported on their Telegram channel.
“We have made a difficult, but in the current circumstances the only possible, decision: The Civic Network Movement ‘Peace. Progress. Human Rights’ is announcing its dissolution and is ending its work. We are doing this not out of fear, but as a mark of respect for those who continue political and human rights work within the country—caring, honest, and free people who share our values,” the statement reads.
The movement was included in the list of “undesirable organisations” on 24 July.
The movement emerged after the start of the invasion of Ukraine. “Peace. Progress. Human Rights” unites human rights defenders, activists, politicians, journalists, and representatives of other professions who stand against the war and support democratic change in Russia. The movement is also named after Sakharov. Some members of the initiative group of this movement are also part of the team at the “Andrei Sakharov Institute.”
