In Chechnya, security forces have detained a teenage boy who was accused of damaging a banner bearing the portrait of Akhmat Kadyrov. This was reported by the channel of the Chechen opposition movement NIYSO.

According to the movement, the torn banner was noticed by security forces on the morning of 27 July in the settlement of Staraya Sunzha (part of Grozny, the region’s capital).

Eyewitnesses said that an “unprecedented number of officers” from the patrol service, rapid response units, the Russian National Guard, and other security agencies gathered at the site where the banner was torn down.

Eventually, the police detained a teenager. NIYSO activists have not yet been able to identify them.
