The Krasnodar Regional Court has overturned the conviction of local resident Dmitry Dyba at the appeal stage. His lawyer informed OVD-Info about this.
In May, the court sentenced him to one and a half years of compulsory labour in the FBK donations case, finding him guilty of financing an extremist organisation (part 1, article 282.3 of the Russian Criminal Code) due to seven transfers totalling 1,050 roubles (about US$12). However, now the conviction has been overturned and the case has been sent for a new hearing.
According to his lawyer, they do not know why the conviction was overturned, as they have not yet received the court ruling. At the appeal stage, the prosecution requested three years of compulsory labour, while the defence asked for a fine.
- The case against Dmitry Dyba became known in February this year. During the investigation, he was under a travel restriction order.
- Dyba’s case was heard in a single session. The prosecutor requested a three-year general regime prison sentence for the Krasnodar resident. In the end, he was sentenced to compulsory labour with 10% of his salary withheld in favour of the state.
