Former presidential candidate Boris Nadezhdin has been denied the right to appeal against the anti-coronavirus bans on rallies. This was reported by SOTAvision.

The Dolgoprudny City Court in Moscow Oblast rejected the politician’s claim. He attempted to challenge the response from Larisa Petrova, prefect of Moscow’s Central Administrative District, regarding the ban on holding pickets. A representative of the Moscow Government stated that the prefect’s response was drafted in accordance with federal law, and that Sobyanin’s decree “On the introduction of a heightened readiness regime” carries superior legal authority. The official added that the reasons why “these events” are not permitted are fair and lawful. When asked whether a pandemic currently exists in Moscow, the official was unable to answer, stating that he is “not an epidemiologist,” but emphasised that “our health is of the greatest value.”

Nadezhdin pointed out that in 2022 the capital hosted various concerts and public events, including performances by “veterans of the Special Military Operation,” but a city administration employee claimed these were not public events but “gatherings.”
