The Central District Court of Chita fined a local resident 500,000 roubles (approx. US$5,600) for making donations to the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), according to the court’s website.
The man was sentenced on 4 August. He was found guilty of financing extremist activity (Part 1, Article 282.3 of the Russian Criminal Code).
According to the court, the Chita resident had been transferring 2,000 roubles each month to the FBK. After the organisation was declared extremist, from 5 August 2021 to 5 February 2022, he transferred a total of 14,000 roubles. The man fully admitted his guilt.
The court allowed the Chita resident to pay the fine in instalments over ten months. In addition, the court ordered the recovery of a further 14,000 roubles “as confiscation of funds intended to support the activities of an extremist organisation.”
