A resident of Oryol region has been sentenced to eight years in a general regime penal colony for publishing posts opposing the war and the authorities. This was reported by TASS.

The unnamed man was found guilty under articles on spreading “fake news” about the Russian army (point “d,” part 2, article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) and public calls for terrorism (part 2, article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). He has also been banned from administering websites on the internet for four years.

According to Interfax, the decision was announced by the Second Western District Military Court. It is likely referring to the sentence the court handed down on 5 August.

According to the investigation, the man posted material online containing false information about the Russian Armed Forces, as well as calls for terrorist actions against Russian authorities.
