The Pravdinsky District Court in Kaliningrad region has sentenced 56-year-old postal worker Yevgeniya Kumpan to three years and two months in a general regime penal colony. She was charged with calling for activities directed against the security of Russia (sections “v,” “d” part 2 article 280.4 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the court’s press service.

She was also banned from posting online for three years.

The prosecution was prompted by a comment Kumpan left on Telegram in March 2024 under a post about the production of Geran drones. The court’s press service said that in her comment, the woman called for the “destruction or damage” of Russian enterprises producing drones.

“Memorial Centre” reported that the case was initiated over Kumpan’s three-word comment: “Blow up the factories to hell.”

After being detained, the postal worker pleaded guilty. She also provided humanitarian assistance to residents of Belgorod region, near the border with Ukraine.

The “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” project said that Kumpan cares for her blind, paralysed mother, who has been classified as having a first-degree disability.
