On 9 July, Farhod Bazarov, a Crimean Muslim sentenced to 15 years in prison, was sent to a strict-regime cell (PKT) in Penal Colony No. 6 in Bezhetsk, a town in the Tver region north of Moscow. This was reported by “Crimean Solidarity.”

Sanctions against Bazarov are set to last until 9 December.

In March 2022, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found Farhod Bazarov guilty of attempted seizure of power (Article 278 of the Russian Criminal Code, with the application of Part 1 of Article 30) and of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with the first 4 years and 10 months to be served in prison, and one year of restricted freedom. He had been held in detention since March 2019.

In 2023, Bazarov was transferred to a prison in the town of Balashov, Saratov region, a city in south-western Russia. After serving part of his sentence there, he was transferred to a strict-regime colony.
