The “Free Russia Forum” has been added to the list of terrorist organisations, published on the FSB website.
The reason was the conviction of dissident Aleksandr Skobov—on 21 March, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison, accused, among other things, of participating in the activities of a terrorist community (part 2 of article 205.4 of the Criminal Code), which the investigation deemed to be the “Free Russia Forum.”
- The “Free Russia Forum” is a discussion platform, created abroad by Russian opposition figures. Within the Forum, conferences are held twice a year, where participants discuss opposition strategies, support for Ukraine, and plans for restructuring Russia after a change of political regime.
- According to the Federal Law “On Countering Terrorism,” a terrorist community is recognised as a terrorist organisation once a guilty verdict in a criminal case over its creation or participation takes legal effect.
