In Smolensk, a major city in western Russia, interior designer Pavel Bobovnikov, who donated six thousand roubles (US$67) to the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), has been fined 500,000 roubles (US$5,600). This was reported on the website of the Leninsky District Court of Smolensk.
In the court’s release, the defendant is referred to as “B.,” but RIA Novosti clarifies that it is Pavel Bobovnikov.
Bobovnikov was found guilty of financing extremist activity (part 1 of article 282.3 of the Criminal Code). According to the court, he sent donations from September 2021 to February 2022.
The criminal case became known in July, when the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Smolensk region announced the completion of its investigation. In mid-June, Bobovnikov was added to the Rosfinmonitoring register of extremists and terrorists. During the investigation, the accused was under a travel ban.
