The Asbest City Court has sentenced a local resident to 300 hours of community service for financing an “undesirable organisation” (part 2, article 284.1 of the Criminal Code), according to the court’s website.

The verdict was delivered on 2 September.

According to the investigation, the woman repeatedly communicated via messengers and social media with Volodymyr Muntyan, the founder of the All-Ukrainian Spiritual Centre “Revival” and the foundation of the same name, as well as with other members of these organisations, and sent donations to support their activities. In total, she transferred more than 81,000 roubles (approximately US$880).

The statement does not specify when the woman sent the donations. Both organisations were designated as “undesirable” in November 2022. The Prosecutor General’s Office claimed their activities threaten Russia’s constitutional order and security.

The defendant admitted guilt. Her case was considered under a special procedure—in other words, without examining the evidence.

  • The “Revival” Spiritual Centre is a religious organisation founded in Ukraine in 1997 by televangelist Volodymyr Muntyan. It has branches in several CIS countries. The All-Ukrainian Union of Churches urged people to beware of Muntyan, describing the centre’s activities as “akin to occult practices.”
