The Novgorod District Court has sentenced two local residents in cases concerning the financing of extremist activity (Part 1, Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code) due to donations made to the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), reports the regional courts’ press office.
On 19 August, the court fined V. N. Makarov 300,000 roubles (about US$3,200). The next day, A. V. Dmitriev was given a fine of 400,000 roubles (about US$4,200).
The press office clarified that on 7 August 2021, three days after a ruling entered into force recognising FBK as an extremist organisation, Dmitriev transferred 300 roubles (about US$3) to the foundation from his account at Tinkoff Bank. He then set up a monthly payment and made four further transfers. In total, he sent 1,500 roubles (about US$16) to FBK.
Both residents of Novgorod admitted guilt.
