The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg did not extend the house arrest of Yevgeny Anisimov, the creator of the YouTube channel “Prekrasnaya Rossiya,” in the case of incitement to hatred with abuse of official position (Clause “b” Part 2 Article 282 of the Russian Criminal Code). This was reported by TASS, quoting Anisimov’s defence lawyer.

“Yevgeny is now under a travel ban,” she clarified. It is unclear when exactly Anisimov’s pretrial restrictions were changed.

The journalist was detained on charges of inciting hatred in February 2025. He was initially remanded in custody, but in April the court changed his pretrial restriction to house arrest.

According to Kommersant, the criminal case was prompted by “repeated insulting statements about law enforcement officers and natives of Central Asian countries.” According to Vecherniye Vedomosti, the case was initiated because of nine videos featuring critical reports about security services personnel.

In addition, in spring 2024, Anisimov was charged with violation of privacy (Part 1 Article 137 of the Russian Criminal Code) and defamation (Article 128.1). This case related to a video about businessman and former Public Chamber member Bogdan Novorok, who, according to the journalist, was involved in land appropriation in Yekaterinburg.

15:57 Later, RIA Novosti reported that investigators did not ask the court to extend Anisimov’s house arrest, and the court did not issue a decision refusing an extension. It was as a result of the investigators' decision that the journalist was released under a travel ban.

Anisimov’s defence lawyer clarified that he was released from house arrest back in July.
