The assistant to a State Duma deputy for work in Leningrad Oblast, and supporter of the Communist Party (CPRF), Ilshat Nafikov, has been detained over a protest against a coffee factory in Murino, near St Petersburg. His lawyer, Sergei Podolsky, told OVD-Info about the incident.
According to Podolsky, Nafikov is being taken to the 128th police department in Vsevolozhsky District, Leningrad Oblast. He is being accused of organising a public event without submitting a notification (Part 2, Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences).
The protocol was triggered by a protest held on 1 May this year against air pollution in Murino from the “Favorit” coffee factory. At that time, Ilshat Nafikov reported that problems related to the factory’s operation and emissions had gone unresolved for six years.
18:07 Nafikov will be held at the police department overnight until his court hearing tomorrow, according to OVD-Info and his lawyer. This means he will spend the night at the station.
The protocol against the detainee is expected to be reviewed tomorrow at 11:00 by the Vsevolozhsk City Court in Leningrad Oblast, near St Petersburg.
5 September The Vsevolozhsk City Court in Leningrad Oblast sentenced Ilshat Nafikov to nine days of administrative detention over the protocol for organising a public event without submitting a notification. This was reported by his lawyer, Sergei Podolsky.
