Security forces have conducted searches at the homes of seven activists in Kamchatka, all supporters of the conspiracy theorist and founder of the Volya party, Svetlana Lada-Rus. This was reported by the “Disclosed” channel, which is also run by Lada-Rus’s followers.
The reason for the investigative actions has not been disclosed. The names of five of those detained are known: Yelena Orlova, Maria Bazayeva, Anna Gracheva, and activists from the “Council of Kamchatka Krai” movement, Alyona Didenko and Vasilya Vershinina. A lawyer was prevented from seeing Vershinina for two hours.
As noted by “7×7,” Didenko ran as an independent candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial election. The electoral commission refused to register her, as she had collected only four deputies’ signatures.
Both Didenko and Vasilya Vershinina took part in a campaign to collect signatures calling for the cancellation of the Kamchatka governor’s election. The “Council of Kamchatka Krai” movement also demanded that the current governor, Vladimir Solodov, be banned from seeking re-election as head of the region, and that the municipal filter be scrapped. They also called for this year’s gubernatorial election to be cancelled as it was uncontested.
16:56 After the searches and interrogations, six of the activists were released by the local FSB office, according to the “Disclosed” Telegram channel.
The seventh activist detained, Vasilya Vershinina, was sent to a temporary detention centre and is due to have pre-trial restrictions determined. The channel does not specify the case in connection with her detention.
