Kirill Bessonov, a 23-year-old resident of Kaluga, has been sentenced to three years in prison on charges of “justifying terrorism” (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) over a comment about a drone attack. This was reported by the “Movement of Conscientious Objectors.”
Taking into account the time he has already spent in pre-trial detention, the young man has two years and four months left to serve.
In August 2024, Bessonov’s home was searched because of the comment, which later became the basis for the criminal case. FSB officers confiscated his devices and then took the young man out to a forest and beat him, after which they released him. In January 2025, Bessonov was detained again. This time, he was sent to pre-trial detention.
From 2021 to 2023, Bessonov carried out alternative civilian service at a residential care home for elderly people in Kaluga Region.
