The Sarapul City Court in Udmurtia gave a suspended three-year sentence to a 39-year-old local resident, accusing him of posting a comment allegedly “calling for the destruction of bunkers that are military-strategic and civil defence facilities.” The court’s decision was reported by Idel.Realii.

The man was found guilty under an article on public calls on the internet to conduct activities aimed against state security (point “v,” part 2, article 280.4 of the Criminal Code). Idel.Realii reports that the case is about Ruslan Fakhriyev.

His case materials were submitted to the court in August. At the hearing on 11 September, the verdict was announced. As the man fully admitted guilt, the case was heard under a special procedure, which meant the evidence was not examined in detail.

According to investigators, on 30 August 2023, Fakhriyev left a message under a post on a Telegram channel. The post discussed “delivering a nuclear strike on the territory of Ukraine.”

The investigators believe that the convicted man was dissatisfied with “the policies of the Russian leadership,” which led to him “developing a false sense of intolerance, expressed in a hostile attitude” towards the war in Ukraine. In his comment, Fakhriyev allegedly “sought to encourage an unlimited number of internet users to carry out explosions, arson and other acts aimed at destroying and damaging the aforementioned facilities in order to undermine the country’s defence capacity.”

The court did not specify what exactly was written in the man’s comment.
