A criminal case for “justifying terrorism” (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) has been opened in Ukhta, a city in the Komi Republic, against 50-year-old hairdresser Oksana Bagirova. This was reported by the pro-government Telegram channel “Komi—eto Zh,” which did not cite any sources.

The posts also described Bagirova as a “representative of the LGBT movement.” The human rights project “Komi politzek” writes that she is not in contact. Neighbours said she was taken away by FSB officers, presumably for questioning.

In September 2025, Oksana Bagirova ran for the Komi State Council as the Communist Party candidate, coming in second in her district, behind Vladimir Blokhin from United Russia. Previously, she had been fined for an anti-war post and a speech at an event for the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, and was detained for five days under an article on disobeying the police.

20 September The grounds for criminal prosecution against Oksana Bagirova were her post about the Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive in 2022, and a comment about the Ukrainian operation “Pautina” (Spider Web), reports the Barents Observer, without naming a source.

In the first instance, in September 2022, Bagirova shared a post on VKontakte from the Telegram channel “Kolokol XXI” about the successful counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kharkiv region.

A specialist from the FSB office in Komi interpreted the following excerpt from the original post as an incitement to kill then-defence minister Sergei Shoigu:

“The average vatnik is finally seeing the light in their thousands: Strelkov was right, there are traitors in the Kremlin, Shoigu should be hanged, we need to change the political leadership.”

The second episode involves Bagirova’s comment in the Telegram channel “Honest MP” under a post about operation “Pautina,” during which Ukrainian drones attacked several military airfields in Russia. “Epic! As a Russian woman, I’m impressed! Glory to Ukraine,” Bagirova wrote.

13:47 At the request of the investigators, the court remanded Oksana Bagirova in custody, reports the Investigative Committee for the Komi Republic.

The year Bagirova ran for the State Council has been corrected in this news story.
