‘Ostorozhno, Novosti’ reported that a media manager from Komi is accused of ‘decolonial activity’ in the interests of a Danish representative, and of working with the ‘Platform for Civil, Anti-War, and Humanitarian Initiatives,’ which cooperates with European authorities.

However, 36-year-old Andreev from Syktyvkar—the administrative centre of the Komi Republic in north-west Russia—has no connection to the ‘Platform.’ It is his 33-year-old namesake from Ulyanovsk, a large city on the Volga River, who is linked with it; he used to work in PR and served as the city’s ‘night mayor’—a role in which he cooperated with the Ulyanovsk administration in 2019.

The outlet Ulnovosti.ru reported that this PR specialist left for Germany shortly before the war began. According to ‘Ostorozhno, Novosti,’ it is he who takes part in anti-war activities in Berlin and works with the ‘Platform,’ something he has spoken about publicly himself.

Law enforcement refuse to drop the criminal case against the media manager from Komi and insist that their involvement in state treason is 'confirmed by all the evidence gathered'.

  • From 2010 to 2022, Andreev was the executive director of ‘7×7,’ covering events in Russian regions. In 2019, he founded the Revolt Centre, a cultural space named after Soviet mathematician and dissident Revolt Pimenov. The centre hosted exhibitions, festivals, lectures, book fairs and other cultural events.
  • This summer, the FSB announced a criminal case against Andreev, who is currently abroad. In 12 regions, searches were conducted at the homes of journalists, activists, and human rights defenders, as well as at the Revolt Centre itself. The FSB claimed that since 2019 the media manager had assisted foreign intelligence agencies in ‘activities aimed against the security of the Russian Federation.’
  • In August, the Revolt Centre was listed as a ‘foreign agent,’ after which it ceased operations.
