In Yekaterinburg, a major city in the Urals, street musician Evgeny Mikhailov was detained while performing in support of “stoptime.” The musician himself told OVD-Info about the detention.
Evgeny Mikhailov was taken to the police station.
16:00 Yekaterinburg street musician Evgeny Mikhailov is being kept overnight at the police station. He is being charged under the article on petty hooliganism (Art. 20.1 of the Administrative Offences Code). His lawyer, Fyodor Akchermyshev, told OVD-Info.
16:55 A report was drawn up against Yekaterinburg street musician Evgeny Mikhailov because of swearing in the Noize MC song “Cooperative ‘Swan Lake,’” which he performed. His lawyer, Fyodor Akchermyshev, told OVD-Info.
The musician will spend the night at Police Station No. 9. The lawyer believes that tomorrow the Verkh-Isetsky District Court will consider the report. Mikhailov faces a fine or up to 15 days of arrest.
The lawyer also spoke about the musician’s condition:
“In what condition can someone be when they are detained by the police and charged with an administrative offence for their activity? A little anxious, but overall holding up.”
21:29 At Police Station No. 9 in Yekaterinburg, staff are refusing to accept a care package for street musician Evgeny Mikhailov. His lawyer told OVD-Info about this.
A friend of the musician tried to deliver necessary items to him twice. Police staff referred to an “order from the chief: no parcels to be accepted or delivered.” One officer said that a care package can only be sent to someone administratively detained at the Temporary Detention Centre (IVS).
The lawyer says that the law does allow parcels to be handed over to detainees held at a police station.
22 October 11:54 A new report has been drawn up against Evgeny Mikhailov—this time for “discrediting” the Russian army (part 1, article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Offences Code) because of performing Monetochka’s song “You Are a Soldier.” His lawyer reported this.
15:17 Evgeny Mikhailov (Zhenya Radost) has been sentenced to 14 days in jail. He was found guilty under both articles: petty hooliganism and “discrediting.” His lawyer reports this.
However, the article on “discrediting” does not provide for a jail sentence. Lawyer Fyodor Akchermyshev comments: “By combining them and assigning the most severe punishment provided for.”
