The “No to Violence” Centre has announced its closure.

The “No to Violence” Centre was designated a “foreign agent” organisation in 2020. The Centre’s project lead, Anna Rivina, was also added to the list later. The Centre was repeatedly fined under the “foreign agent” law. In 2024, T-Bank switched off recurring donations to “No to Violence.”

In a statement, Anna Rivina said: “The ‘foreign agent’ law has gradually deprived us not only of our resources. First, we were banned from holding events. Then we were forbidden from conducting educational activities. More and more people were afraid to come near us, more and more services refused to help, cutting off those affected from support. This circle around our future kept shrinking, shrinking, shrinking—and now there is simply no space left for our work.”

Anna thanked readers and donors for their support: “We are leaving with gratitude and respect for ourselves, for you, for the cause we worked on together. […] Thanks to our work, most people in our country know that a law against domestic violence is needed. Those affected now speak up much more, and society realises: this is not a ‘private family matter,’ but a systemic injustice.”

  • The “No to Violence” Centre operated for almost ten years, during which time the project ran dozens of campaigns and created the first mobile app for those affected by domestic violence. The Centre collected and shared information, and provided legal and psychological consultations.
