As reported by SOTAvision, today a blogger from Voronezh called his father and said that he had been transferred to Penal Colony Settlement No. 10 in Voronezh region, a city in western Russia.
“As soon as I arrived, they immediately gave me 5 days in the punishment cell. And just now—another 15 days. For absolutely nothing, just like that. I agreed to everything, didn’t object to anything. And yet they still gave me 5, and starting today—another 15 days in total solitary. All allegedly because at some moment I didn’t stand up straight enough,” Vegan said.
He believes they intend to “break” him in the colony.
The blogger was meant to go to the facility by himself on 13 October, but instead staged an anti-war protest that day. He was detained at the demonstration, after which a court sentenced Vegan to 30 days’ arrest, followed by forced transfer to serve his sentence.
- In January 2023, a case was opened against the blogger for “offending religious feelings” (Part 1 Article 148 of the Russian Criminal Code) and “rehabilitation of Nazism” (subparagraph “v,” Part 2 and Part 4 Article 354.1), due to statements on his YouTube channel. Vegan posted his own sermons there, where he sometimes condemned the war in Ukraine, criticised the Russian authorities, and spoke negatively about Islam. The case was triggered by his comments on the Quran and war crimes committed by Soviet soldiers against civilians during the Second World War.
- In February 2025, a court sentenced Vegan to three years in a penal colony settlement. He was also ordered to undergo compulsory psychiatric supervision and treatment, and banned from administering internet resources.
- Vegan said that he does not intend to comply with this ban—new videos are still appearing on his channel. In his final statement, he said that for the last three years he “used all my resources, energy, means, and opportunities to try to stop the ‘Rashist-Ukrainian’ war,” and that the authorities are trying to silence him.
