The detained resident of Korolyov demanded documents from the contractor to check the construction of a road through the Akulovsky canal, reports the channel “INFO! Against the road through Losiny Ostrov!”
Eyewitnesses to the detention told OVD-Info that the detained man’s name is Dainis Mutsenieks. He was taken to a police station in Korolyov, a city just northeast of Moscow.
According to the channel run by Losiny Ostrov defenders, one of the police officers admitted they did not know under which article the man was being detained.
18:39 Local residents waiting for him outside the police station told OVD-Info that the detained man was released without a protocol.
- Local residents and environmental activists have been trying since the summer to prevent the construction of a road through Losiny Ostrov, which is a specially protected natural area. They warn that the construction work will reduce the range and number of animals living in the park, and cause pollution.
- Police have detained Losiny Ostrov defenders on several occasions. In October, one of the activists was taken from the police station in an ambulance.
